My name is Gavin and I’m a fifth-year student, studying art for my leaving cert. I really like it. The project that I am working on at the moment, I am using paper clay. I am making a bas-relief panel.
Bas-relief is where you make the image really stand out from the back slab of clay. I really like working with clay because you can do whatever you want with it. If you make a mistake it is easy to fix.
In the Australian outback there are petrol stations with nothing for miles around and I like that idea of civilization in the middle of nowhere. I really like surrealism. Surrealism is where art doesn’t make a huge amount of sense or doesn’t depict things that actually exist.
