A Barrier to Freedom
In my piece, I wanted to reflect on all the change and reform that happened in the past year. I wanted to shine a light on the countless coloured lives lost to the wrath of United States Police Force. In the foreground I painted 3 fists, the symbol that’s associated with the Black Lives Matter movement. In the centre stands Capitol Hill, a symbol in American Culture for peace and freedom. Yet in between this stands the National Guard. I wrote the name of each Black life lost in 2020 in the sky.
